Blues, funk and soul classics seasoned with signature Bradley/McGillivray twists
Product Description
After 10 years of laughter and live shows, Ruth, Sheldon, Paul and Hoto capture a snapshot of what the band has become with 10 favourite blues, funk and soul classics that have morphed into signature Bradley/McGillivray tunes.
The album starts off with a soul-inspiring version of Curtis Mayfield’s People Get Ready, straight into the cheeky funk of That’s What Love Can Make You Do. A haunting, Toto-inspired version of Robert Johnson’s Come On In My Kitchen features Paul Freeman on fretless bass, and Ruth’s gospel, heart-wrenching vocals on Don’t Try to Explain are reminiscent of Jennifer Holliday.
Drummer Hoto Parker turns Chain of Fools into a latin number, featuring the clean, tasteful virtuosity of Sheldon Bradley on guitar, while Can’t Hold Out goes back to traditional shuffle, grit and slide. Don’t miss the remake of Linda Ronstadt’s You’re No Good. It starts off much as you’d expect, but don’t let that you fool you–the vocal/drum breakdown and key change take an old song to a whole new level and it just builds from there.
Enjoy!
